Adult Education

            The hour after worship is a time for adults to study the Bible, engage critically with issues of the day, or share experiences in small groups.

            Among recent topics we have studied are Habitat for the Humanities; Hunger Initiative; Earth Ministry concerns; Psalms and the Lord's Prayer; spiritual themes in the Gospel of Mark; practical, ethical, and spiritual issues around death and dying; mission and outreach opportunities. Recent speakers have included a local leader for the rights of the disabled, a Muslim speaking about the history of Islam and his faith, and the United Church of Christ lobbyist in the Connecticut State House.

Other sessions have included workshops led by the church staff designed to help participants go deeper in their spiritual lives.

We also use the adult education hour to hold congregational meetings and discuss practical matters facing the church.
