DID  YOU  KNOW??

*** Rev. Marybeth Marshall is our new settled Pastor, beginning her ministry at South Church on January 18, 2009.  With the announcement she made weeks ago, May 5, 2013 is her last Sunday as Pastor of South Church.

***Rev. Suzanne Personette is now our new Interim Minister as of May 13, 2013.  She will serve as our pastor in this transition time while we search for a new settled minister.

***  South Church has restored and re-painted the Sanctuary.  The pews were removed in June 2008.  The Contractor erected staging so the workers could reach that high ceiling.  The plaster walls were repaired and painted in bright, inspiring colors.  The woodwork was cleaned and polished.  The pews were re-installed, and the sanctuary was re-dedicated in September.   If you have never been in South Church, or have not been inside in a long time, you owe it to yourself to check it out.  You will be moved by its beauty!

***  THE SYMBOL OF THE FISH

The early Christians used the drawing of a fish to indicate from one Christian to another that they were Christians.  The Romans did not realize what it meant.  The word in Greek (using Egnlish letters) is:  IXTHUS.   These letters are an acronym for:   I   (Jesus)    X   (Christ)   TH  (of God)   U  (the Son)   S  (Savior)

See Ruth Harwood to buy Scrip Cards.  It functions like gift cards and South Church gets a percentage of the money you spend.  You can obtain cards that you can use to buy groceries, dinner at certain restaurants, even donuts and coffee!

*** INTERN FROM YALE BEGINS IN SEPTEMBER*****

MARILYN HENDRIX, a student at Yale Divinity School, will begin an internship at South Church in September.  She will be with us for this school year.
